Bedrock is a health & hospital radio station serving Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust (Queen's & King George Hospitals) and North East London Foundation Trust (Goodmayes Hospital), plus the local community.
Bedrock was established in 2002 following the merge of Harold Wood Hospital Radio & Oldchruch Radio, in 2016 Goodmayes Hospital Radio Association (The Jumbo Sound) merged into us following suffering water damaged facilities.
The station's objective is to help relieve the effects of pain and illness, and to help rehabilitate patients by providing a high quality broadcasting service. Broadcasting throughout the BHRUT & NELFT Hospitals sites plus on-line & mobile. Bedrock provides entertainment to patients in the hospital whilst additionally promoting a healthy lifestyle to local people within London Boroughs of Havering, Redbridge and Barking & Dagenham.
Bedrock operate two radio services;
Bedrock Radio; With studios located at Queen's Hospital, Romford & Goodmayes Hospital, Ilford.
On-Air you'll hear local events listings, interviews, news and a Healthy Music Mix from the 80's to today.
Bedrock Gold: Specialises 'Classic Hits' from the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and features Rock & Roll, Country, Jazz, Musicals, Radio Dramas, Talk Shows and more to invoke ‘Great Memories’ from yesteryear.
Approximately 30 volunteers are involved, with Trustees overseeing the day-to-day running.
